PAC Coaches Select
Misericordia as Pre-Season Softball Favorite
Aston, Pa. – Misericordia University’s softball team
has been selected as the pre-season favorite in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) coaches’ poll. The defending
conference champion Cougars received
eight of the eleven possible first place votes for a total of 118 points, edging
past Neumann College.
“It is an
honor to be selected by the PAC Coaches,” said Misericordia head coach
Charlotte Slocum. “The PAC has developed into a very competitive league and
we’re very proud of our accomplishments. We hope to live up to the expectations
and continue our winning tradition.”
Under Coach
Slocum, the Cougars have made 12 consecutive championship game appearances.
Neumann College earned a total of 108 points,
including three first-place votes, to finish in second place in the poll. Cabrini College (99) finished third,
with Alvernia College (81) and Eastern University (77) finishing
fourth and fifth respectively.
Marywood University (65), Gwynedd-Mercy College (53), Centenary
College (47), Cedar Crest College
(44), Immaculata University (32) and
Rosemont College (11) rounded out
the voting.
The 2008 PAC Championship begins first round
play on Wednesday, April 30, 2008. The PAC
Championship is set for Sunday, May 4th.
